Isinusulong sa Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang pagbibigay ng one-time P15,000 cash assistance sa mga fully-vaccinated Filipino families.
Sa inihaing House Bill no. 10644 o”Ayuda sa Bakuna” bill ni Quezon City Rep. Alfred Vargas, ang nasabing cash assistance program ay sa ilalim ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) na iba pa sa social amelioration program na ipinatutupad nito.
“This measure not only alleviates the sufferings of our fellow Filipinos in this two-year global pandemic, it also helps solve the problem by encouraging science-backed vaccination and accelerating our achievement of herd immunity,” sabi ni Vargas.
“It prioritizes the poorest of the poor and the most vulnerable sectors of our communities. These include senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and persons with comorbidities. The program will, however, cover all eligible Filipino families, as long as living and qualified members have complied with the government’s prescribed vaccination program,” dagdag pa nito.
Paliwanag pa ng kongresista na inihain nito ang panukala, ngayong may banta ng Omicron variant sa bansa.
Sinabi pa ni Vargas na ang “Ayuda sa Bakuna” program ay makakatulongg para mabawasan ang vaccine hesitancy ng mga Pinoy na malaking sagabal sa ginagawa ng pamahalaan para makontrol ang pagkalat ng COVID-19 virus.
Aniya pa, nabigo ang national government na maabot ang target nitong mabakunahan ang nasa 54 milyong Filipino sa pagtatapos ng 2021.
Sa datos ng Department of Health (DOH), tinukoy nito ang limang rehiyon na may mababang vaccination rates kabilang ang Regions 3 (Central Luzon), Region 4A (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Region 6 (Western Visayas), Region 7 (Central Visayas), at ang Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
“Vaccines save lives. Our nation’s strong vaccination drive has already shown that. Our Ayuda sa Bakuna program reflects the Filipino people’s values of bayanihan and damayan: to defeat COVID-19 and take back our normal lives from this virus, we need to help each other. We need to make sure that no one gets left behind,” sabi pa ni Vargas.
