Tiniyak ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na tuluy-tuloy ang serbisyong ibibigay nito sa mga papaalis at paparating sa bansa sa kabila ng pagtaas ng bilang ng COVID-19 cases sa bansa.
Ayon sa BI, walang mangyayaring pagbabawas sa work schedule sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at sa iba pang paliparan at pantalan.
“There will be no diminution in the duty days of our port personnel as we are duty-bound to ensure that all international travelers who enter and exit our borders get the most efficient and hassle-free immigration service from our officers,” sa kalatas ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente.
Aniya, inatasan na nito si Atty. Carlos Capulong, ang hep eng BI acting port operations division (POD) na panatilihin ang kasalukuyang work scheme at schedule ng lahat ng immigration personnel na nakatalaga sa mga paliparan.
“In the past several weeks we have seen a steady increase in the volume of international passengers entering and exiting our airports, thus it would only be prudent to keep our current manpower to ensure smooth and seamless service to the traveling public,” sabi pa ni Morente.
Gayunpaman, binigyang diin nito ang pangangailangan para sa lahat ng mga tauhan ng BI port upang mahigpit na sundin ang itinatakdang health protocols at magsuot ng personal protective equipment (PPE) habang nasa tungkulin upang maprotektahan ang kanilang sarili laban sa bagong Omicron variant na mabilis na kumalat sa Metro Manila at iba pang rehiyon ng bansa.
Sinabi pa ni Capulong na sa inilabas na resolusyon ng Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), ang lahat ng government personnel na sangkot sa border control operations tulad ng BI officers ay pinapayagang mag-operate ng full capacity.
