Vice Presidential aspirant Sara Duterte appealed anew for cooperation and discipline to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic amid the Omicron variant threat.
“Masusugpo po natin COVID-19. Kailangan po natin ang pagkakaisa, pagtutulungan, at disiplina para malampasan natin ang pandemya,” Davao City Mayor Sara said in a recent video message amid the rising cases of the Omicron variant.
She reminded the public to take extra precautions to avoid being infected or transmitting the virus by observing the minimum heath protocols set by the Department of Health (DOH) such as proper wearing of face masks, social distancing, proper handwashing, and to avoid mass gatherings to protect oneself and their families.
Staying at home, except for essential reasons, greatly contributes in keeping the households safe and in protecting immunocompromised family members, she said.
Ugaliin po nating magdala lagi ng hand sanitizers at alcohol,” she said.
Mayor Sara also called on Filipinos to be protected by getting vaccinated with primary doses and booster shots that are available to the public across the country.
The country, on Jan. 13, logged an all-time high of 34,021 new infections, bringing the nationwide total to 3,092,409 and the active cases to 237,387.
Aside from Metro Manila, 28 other provincial areas have been placed under Alert level 3 due to the surge in COVID-19 infections.
Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas,” Mayor Sara said.
