Nangako si Anakalusugan party list Rep. Michael “Mike” Defensor na isang world class molecular ang itatayo nito sa Quezon City upang mapakinabangan ng nasa 2..94 milyong residente ng lungsod.
“The residents of Quezon City deserve access to world-class automated testing services for diseases, and we are determined to give it to them,” sabi ni Defensor, na tumatakbo bilang alkalde ng lungsod.
Sinabi ni Defensor na plano nitong maglagay ng tatlong molecular testing labs na patatakbuhin sa “gold standard” GeneXpert platform sa iba’t ibang lugar sa lungsod upang magamit ng mga QC residents.
“We intend to put up at least three molecular testing labs – one each for the Quezon City General Hospital, the Novaliches District Hospital, and the Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital,” dagdag pa nito.
Sa kasalukuyan aniya ay tatlong ospital lamang ang pinatatakbo ng Quezon City government ngunit walang sariling molecular screening labs dahilan upang kailangan pang umasa sa pribadong pasilidad para sa specimen testing.
“We cannot have delays in patient diagnosis and treatment during a public health emergency. They would be capable of detecting not only COVID-19 and the next pandemic virus, but also a wide range of diseases, such as multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis, cervical cancer, breast cancer, bladder cancer, and meningitis,” ani Defensor.
