Sang-ayon ang isang kongresista sa pahayag ni Vice President Leni Robredo na dapat unahin ang pagtiyak sa safety and security ng mahigit 300 Filipino na nasa Ukraine dahil sa biglang pagtaas ng posibilidad na magkagiyera sa pagitan ng Ukraine at Russia.
Ayon kay Agusan del Norte 1st District Rep. Lawrence Fortun, tama ang pagtataya ni Robredo na kailangan nang ilikas sa lalong madaling panahon ang mga overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) na nasa Ukraine.
Dagdag pa nit, kailangang nakaalerto na rin ang mga Pilipinong nasa bansang karatig ng Ukraine tulad ng Belarus, Poland, at Moldova.
“Filipinos can either secure in place and care about their Ukrainian employers and friends, or temporarily evacuate the countries just outside of Ukraine through commercial rail and airlines. The economic managers and private business sectors should be ready for the impact of the possible war on global crude oil prices, stock market investments, shipments of imports and exports between the Philippines and European countries, and international airline safety,” paliwanag ng kongresista.
Kaugnay nito, nagbabala ang mambabatas sa mga kumpanya ng langis sa samantalahin ang nangyayaring gulo sa nasabing mga bansa para magtaas ng presyo ng produktong petrolyo gayundin ang iba pang negosyante na posibleng magtaas na presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin.
“Possible war in Ukraine should not be an excuse for profiteers here in the Philippines, so the DTI must be ready to preempt any opportunists out there especially those who would prey on OFWs, importers, and exporters,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.
