Pagrepaso sa minimum wage suportado ng kongresista

Pinuri ni House Deputy Speaker at Bagong Henerasyon party list Rep. Bernadette Herrera si Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III sa utos nitong pagrepaso sa minimum wages sa buong bansa sa gitna ng tumataas na presyo ng produktong petrolyo.

“We fully support Secretary Bello’s directive to all regional wage boards to expedite the review of minimum wages to help workers and their families weather the current oil crisis,” ani Herrera.

Giit nito, panahon na aniyang itaas ang suweldo ng mga manggagawa sa bansa lalo na ngayong dumadanas na kahirapan ang mga Filipino dahil sa epekto ng COVID-19 virus at nasundan pa ng oil hike.

“It’s time to raise the minimum wages. We need to provide hardworking Filipinos a lifeline as they suffer the dual shock of COVID-19 and oil price hikes,” sabi ng mambabatas.

Una nang inatasan ni Bello ang lahat ng Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) sa buong bansa na madaliin ang pag-aaral sa arawang kita ng mga manggagawa.

Aniya, ang pagtatas sa presyo ng produktong petrolyo na pinalubha pa ng nangyayaring giyera sa pagitan ng Russia at Ukraine ay maaaring maging dahilan para magrekomenda ang wage board ng pagsasaayos ng minimum wages.

Sinang-ayunan naman ito ni Herrera sa pagsasabing sa kasalukuyang daily wage sa National Capital Region (NCR) na P537 ay hindi na makakayanan ang presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin tulad ng pagkain, singil sa kuryente at tubig.

“It imperative to provide workers and their families with the means to cope up with increasing costs of living, without hampering the growth and development of business and industry,” ani Herrera.

Handa aniya itong tumuling sa DOLE o sa Executive Department para sa pagpapagaan ng epekto ng pagtaas ng presyo ng langis sa mga manggagawa sa pamamagitan ng pagbuo ng batas.

“If there’s anything I can do as a legislator, I want Secretary Bello and the Executive to know that they have my support and I’m very much willing to push in Congress whatever legislation they espouse that would provide relief to our workers in these trying times,” ayon pa kay Herrera.
