Katiwalian sa TUPAD program sa QC at Palawan iimbestigahan ng Ombudsman

Nagsasagawa na ng motu proprio investigation ang Office of the Ombudsman para imbestigahan ang umano’y katiwalian sa Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Sinabi ni Ombudsman Samuel R. Martires na isang fact-finding investigation ang ginagawa na ngayon sa emergency cash-for-work program sa Quezon City.

“As an independent constitutional body, the Ombudsman continues to conduct in-depth investigations on alleged anomalies especially those committed in these trying times of the pandemic,” ani Martires.

Nabatid na ang imbestigasyon ng OMB ay  base sa mga ulat ng umano’y katiwalian na kinasasangkutan ng ilang lokal na gobyerno sa TUPAD beneficiaries.

Sinasabing nag-ugat ang reklamo mula sa ilang benepisyaryo ng emergency cash-for-work na kulang ang tinanggap na suweldo ng mga ito sa itinakdang P7,518 na dapat makuha ng mga ito.

Ayon pa sa Ombudsman, partikular na sesentro ang imbestigasyon sa sinasabing illegal deductions na napunta umano sa ilang congressional staff members o barangay officials; ang pangongolekta ng “processing fees” at pananamantala ng ilang government officials sa TUPAD program.

Suportado naman ng DOLE ang desisyon ng Ombudsman para mapanagot ang sinumang nagsamantala sa TUPAD program ng pamahalaan.

 “We are really sorry that it happened but with this investigation by the Ombudsman, it is a good move of course to pin down, if ever there are public officials involved. The Ombudsman is on the right track. I think that’s the track of the Ombudsman, to look into the possible complicity of some people in government,” sa kalatas ng DOLE.

Idinagdag pa ng DOLE na mismong si Secretary Silvestre Bello III ang nagsimulang imbestigahan ang ulat ng kurapsyon na kinasasangkutan ng ilang local officials noong 2020.

“The case is with the NBI, to look deeper into the complaints on the program implementation. The NBI already has sufficient information and is now up to them to file charges against those whom the agency deemed responsible for the wrongdoings in the implementation of the program,” ayon pa sa DOLE.

Maliban sa Quezon City, kasama rin sa iimbestigahan ng Ombudsman ang TUPAD program sa Palawan.
