Magandang balita para sa mga Filipino na nais magtrabaho sa bansang Canada.
Ito ay matapos ihayag ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) na pormal nang nilagdaan ang isang memorandum of understanding (MOU) sa gobyerno ng Yukon, Canada.
Sa virtual ceremony, nakipagpulong si Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III kay Minister Ranj Pillai at nilagdaan ang MOU para sa trabaho at proteksyon ng mga Filipinong manggagawa sa nasabing lugar.
“The Memorandum of Understanding that we are signing today not only strengthens our bilateral labor relations but will also enhance our cooperation in the protection, recruitment and deployment of Filipino workers in Yukon,” sabi ni Bello.
Sinamahan si Bellonina DOLE Assistant Secretary Alice Visperas at POLO Vancouver Labor Attaché Jainal Rasul, Jr., na lumagda sa MOU sa Philippine Consulate in New York habang si Minister Pillai, ay sinamahan ng ilang Filipino community leaders sa Whitehorse, Yukon, para lagdaan ang MOU sa Philippine Consulate in Vancouver.
Layon ng kasunduan na mapadali ang deployment ng mga manggagawang Pinoy sa ilalim ng Yukon Nominee Program, na hinihimok ang mga employers na punan ang mga bakanteng posisyon na hindi inookupahan ng mga Canadians o ng mga permanent residents.
Ang MOU ay iimplementa ng Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) at ng Yukon’s Department of Economic Development.
Nakapaloob sa kasunduan na ang mga employers at kanilang mga ahente, kabilang ang immigration consultants, ay pinagbabawal na maningil ng anumang bayarin para sa recruitment services and selection.
Parehong tinanggap nina Bello at Pillai ang MOU na noong 2019 pa sinimulang pag-usapan.
“It has been almost three years since we’ve met and signed the Philippines-Yukon Joint Communiqué in Whitehorse, Yukon. The Joint Communiqué paved the way for the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Philippines and Yukon on the Employment and Protection of Filipinos under the Yukon Nominee Program,” ayon kay Bello.
Magsisimula ang screening sa mga kuwalipikadong aplikanteng Pinoy sa sandaling maaprubahan ng Joint Working Committee na kakatawanin nina Consul General Maria Andrelita Austria, Deputy Consul General Arlene Magno, at POLO Vancouver Labor Attaché Jainal Rasul, Jr.
Sa kasalukuyan ay nasa 5,000 Filipino ang nasa Yukon at karamihan sa mga ito ay naging permanent residents o Canadian citizens na.
