Senado handang-handa nang tumanggap ng COCs at ERs sa Lunes

Handang-handa na ang Senado na tanggapin ang Certificates of Canvass (COCs) at Election Returns (ERs) ng president at vice president sa oras na magsara na ang mga election precincts sa darating na Lunes, Mayo 9.

Sinabi ni Senate President Vicente Sotto III na nakasaad sa Article VII, Section 4 ng Konstitusyon, may mandato ang Senado na tanggapin ang mga election returns sa bawat eleksyon para sa president at vice president post, na sertipikado ng board of canvassers sa bawat syudad at probinsya sa bung bansa.

Aniya, ang nasabing election returns ay ipapadala sa Kongreso.

Ang Senate President ang tatanggap ng Certificates of Canvass at siyang magbubukas ng lahat ng certificates na hindi lalagpas ng 30-araw matapos ang araw ng eleksyon sa joint session ng Senado at Kamara na siyang magsasagawa ng pag-canvass ng boto.

Sinabi naman ni Senate Secretary Myra Marie Villarica na ang pagtanggap ng COCs at ERs ay mapapanood sa pamamagitan ng  YouTube channel ng Senado simula alas-6:00 ng gabi sa Mayo 9, 2022.

“This is the first time we will broadcast live the arrival and deposit of all election documents for 24/7 in the Senate YouTube channel. We are taking this opportunity to advance our digital initiatives and ensure transparency of the entire activity. We have also tightened security, particularly where the ballot boxes of the COCs and the ERs will be stored. Aside from CCTV cameras located in strategic areas, we will also have roving cameras manned by personnel from the Public Relations and Information Bureau (PRIB),” paliwanag ni  Villarica.

Sinabi pa nito na maghigpit ng ipatutupad na seguridad ng Senado kung saan ang mga sasakyang naglalaman ng ballot boxes naglalaman ng COCs at ERs ang papayagan lamang makapasok sa indoor parking area ng Senado.

Samantalang ang mga sasakyan ng Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms (OSAA) n may car stickers ang papayagan lamang na mag-park sa open parking area sa pamamagitan ng “first-come, first served” basis.

 Magpapatupad din ito ng “No ID, No Entry policy”.

Ayon pa kay Villarica, sa oras na dumating sa Senado ang lahat ng COCs ay agad na magsasagawa ito ng daily status report na ipapakita sa pamamagitan ng LED Screen Display sa ikalawang palapag ng Senate building para sa public viewing.

Samantala, mahigpit ding ipatutupad ang health and safety protocols sa pagdating ng mga COCs at ERs kung saan isasailalim sa disinfection at maglalagay ng sanitation area sa labas ng  Senate building.            

“As per our health and safety standards, we will ask Commission on Elections (COMELEC) personnel to wait for their turn in bringing in the ballot boxes. Unlike in the previous elections when they can enter the Senate building at the same time, we have a holding area where they can wait for their turn before entering the lobby,” sabi ni Villarica.
