Personal na ipinarating ni dating Pangulo at ngayo’y nagbabalik na Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ang pagsuporta kay House Majority Leader at Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin G. Romualdez para maging susunod na House Speaker sa 19th Congress.
Nabatid na nagkaroon ng pagpupulong ang dalawang opisyal sa San Juan City at pinag-usapan ang mga hamon na kakaharapin ng Kongreso at ng bansa sa mga darating na taon.
Nagpasalamat naman si Romualdez sa suporta at pagtitiwala ng dating Pangulo sa pamumuno nito sa susunod na Kongreso.
“Thank you ma’am. Coming from our President Emeritus in Lakas-CMD, it means a lot to me,” ani Romualdez, na siya ring pangulo ng Lakas-CMD.
Ayon pa kay Romualdez, malakng tulong ang payo ni Arroyo para maging maayos ang pamumuno nito sa House of Representatives.
Una nang nagparating ng suporta kay Romualdez si incumbent Speaker Lord Allan Velasco at ng iba pang kongresista.
“Majority Leader Martin Romualdez and I have been working together for decades in a joint effort to do our best to serve the Filipino people. Since 2010, our partnership involved our service as fellow members of the House of Representatives,” sa kalatas na inilabas ni Arroyo noong nakalipas na Sabado.
“I will be returning to the House on June 30, 2022. I would therefore like to advise the members of the Lakas-CMD that I am throwing my support for Majority Leader Martin Romualdez to be elected as House Speaker in the next Congress. I urge all members of our party to do the same,” dagdag pa nito.
