Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri uupong Senate President sa 19th Congress

“All wells that ends well”.

 Ito ang nangyari ngayon sa Senado hinggil sa agawan sa pagiging Senate President para sa 19^th Congress sa pagitan nina Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri at Senador Cynthia Villar sa huling araw ng 18^th Congress kahapon kung saan nagwagi ang una.

Ayon kay Zubiri noong nakalipas na plenary session noong Martes ay kinausap ito ni Villar at personal na sinabing hindi na ito interesado pa sa posisyon bilang Senate President.

“Tinawag niya ako sa tabi ng plenary at sinabi na hindi na siya interesado sa Senate Presidency and of course sinabi niya huwag daw kalimutan ang kanyang grupo and I said ma’am never ko silang kakalimutan. Kasama ko silang sa super majority,” sa panayam ng mamamahayag sa Senado.

 “Hindi po kami maghihiwalay, magkakasama tayong lahat ng grupo ni ma’am Cynthia at grupong seatmates and of course this is for the benefit of our institution as a Senate and to push for a great legislative agenda for the 19^th Congress,” dagdag pa nito.

 Pinasalamatan din ni Zubiri si Villar sa pag-endorso nito sa kanya bilang bagong Senate President sa susunod na Kongreso.

 “A united Senate is a productive one, so from the very beginning, I’ve always wanted to form a supermajority in the Senate. So I would like to thank Ma’am Cynthia Villar from the bottom of my heart for her support,graciousness, and magnanimity in helping me form a supermajority. I also thank all my colleagues who believe in me and put their trust and confidence in my ability to lead the Senate in the 19th Congress,” sabi pa ni Zubiri.

Ipinagmalaki pa ni Zubiri na dahil sa mga naranasan nito mula noong 14^th, 17^th at 18^th Congress kung saan ito naging Majority Leader ay marami itong natutunan kung kaya’t kumpiyansa itong marerendahan ang Senado para makapagpasa ng mahahalagang panukalang batas.

“Rest assured that all of my experience as Majority Leader in the 14th,17th,and 18th Congresses will help me greatly in managing the affairs of the Senate, should I be given the opportunity to serve as Senate President. And having been a legislator for as long as I have, I understand deeply the independence, integrity,and dignity of the Senate,and I will always uphold these, as well as the rules and traditions of this hallowed institution,” aniya pa.

Sinabi pa ni Zubiri na ilan sa mga nais na mangyari ni President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos ay makapagbuo ng legislative agenda kabilang ang pag-aayos sa ekonomiya, paramihin ang trabaho, palakasin ang mga negosyo lalo na ang MSMEs, suportahan ang sektor ng agrikultura, at pababain ang antas ng kahirapan, lalo na sa kanayunan.
