BI-Interpol system ilalagay sa satellite offices

Pinalawig pa ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang kampanya laban sa mga wanted at illegal at undocumented aliens sa bansa sa pamamagitan ng BI-Interpol system sa mga satellite offices.

Nabatid na unang lumagda sa isang kasunduan ang BI para sa International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) systems na ilalagay sa mga tanggapan ng ahensya sa buong bansa.

Nakapaloob sa memorandum of agreement ng Philippine Center for Transnational Crime (PCTC), nakipagsundo ito sa BI na palawakin at pagtatayo ng Interpol Global Communication System (I-24/7) sa lahat ng tanggapan ng BI kabilang ang mga seaports at field offices.

Ayon kay BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, ang nasabing BI-Interpol system ay inilagay lamang sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Clark International Airport, Bohol-Panglao International Airport, Subic International Airport, Cagayan North International Airport, at Zamboanga International Airport.

Sabi pa ni Morente, ang BI-Interpol lateral coordination ay nakatulong para maaresto ang mga wanted na dayuhan na sangkot sa transnational criminal activities.

“The use of the I-24/7 was limited to screening passengers at the international ports,” said Morente.  “We see this as an effective tool in intercepting undesirable aliens, hence we sought expansion of its use,” sabi nito.

Paliwanag pa ni Morente, ang nasabing proyekto ay nakapaloob sa Executive Order 122 na nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte para sa Advance Passenger Information System (APIS).

Sinabi naman ni BI APIS Operations Center Chief Melvin Mabulac, na ang Interpol database ay magsisilbing bahagi ng bansa sa  advance security vetting ng mga dayuhang turista na darating sa Pilipinas.

“Since being granted direct access to the Interpol’s system in 2015, I am convinced that this agreement has helped the BI in hunting down foreign criminals who are attempting to make our country their hideout. I am confident that the expansion of the system to satellite and field offices will immensely contribute to the apprehension and deportation of undesirable aliens, ” he further underscored,” paliwanag pa ni Morente.

Sa datos ng BI, simula 2016, aabot sa 2,500 foreigners ang nadakip dahil sa pagiging undocumented at working without the necessary visas, at maging mga international fugitives na nagtatago sa bansa.
