Iniutos ng Office of the Ombudsman ang pagsibak sa tungkulin sa 45 tauhan ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na isinasangkot sa kontrobersyal na“pastillas scam” o ang maanomalyang pagpapasok sa bansa ng foreign nationals na hindi dumadaan sa tamang proseso.
Sa 143-pahinang Consolidated Decision na inilabas ng Ombudsman na ay petsang Hunyo 6, pinapanagot ng anti-corruption agency ang mga nasabing indibiduwal ng paglabag sa grave misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service kaugnay ng pagtanggap ng suhol sa mga in-bound aliens na karamihan ay mga Chinese nationals na dumadaan sa tinawag na “express lane” sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1 at 2.
Nag-ugat ang kasong administratibo sa inihaing reklamo ng National Bureau of Investigation-Special Action Unit (NBI-SAU) noong 2020.
Samantala, noong Hunyo 6, naghain ang Ombudsman ng kasong katiwalian sa Sandiganbayan laban sa 50 BI officers kasama ang private defendant na si Liya Wu, may-ari ng Empire International Travel and Tours na sinasabing nakipagsabwatan sa mga akusadong immigration personnel.
“This office finds that respondents acted willfully and with a corrupt motive. Wherefore, there being substantial evidence, this office finds the following administratively liable for grave misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service and are meted the penalty of dismissal from the service,” ayon sa Ombudsman.
Kasama sa dismissal order sina BI Personnel Section acting chief Grifton Medina, Erwin Ortañez, Glenn “GC” Comia, Benlado “Bien” Guevarra, Danieve “Denden” Binsol, Deon Carlo Albao, Arlan Edward Mendoza, Anthony “Al” Lopez, Cecille Orozco, Francis Dennis Robles, Bradfrod Allen So, Vincent Allas, Rodolfo “Totoy” Magbuhos, ER German Robin, Gabriel Ernest “Gabe” Estacio, at Ralph Ryan “RG” Garcia.
Gayundin sina Phol “Vexana III” Villanueva, Abdul Fahad “Sharpedge Calaca” Calaca, Danilo Deudor, Mark “Fakehappy” Macababbad, Aurelio “Amboy” Lucero III, George Bituiin, Salahudin Hadjinoor, Cherrypie “Chepie” Bicolcol, Chevy Chase Naniong, Carl Jordan Perez, Abdulhafez “HB” Hadjibasher, Jeffrey Dale “Boss Nyepi” Ignacio, Clint John Simene, Asliyah Maruhom, Maria Victoria Jogno, at Paul Erik “Liza” Borja.
Kabilang din sina Hamza Pacasum, Manuel Sarmiento III, Fidel Mendoza, Dimple Mayumi Mallari, Gerrymyle “Gem” Franco, John Michael Angeles, Francis Meeka Flores, Sadruddin Usudan, John Kessler Cortez, Mohammad Sahary Lomondot, John Derrick Go, Aira Inoue, at Rovan Rey Manlapas.
Sinabi ni Ombudsman Samuel Martires na ang 45 nakumpirmang nasa roster of active personnel ng BI.
Samantala, ang iba pang akusado na wala na sa BI ay papatawan ng isang taong multa.
Kasama rin sa parusa na ipinataw sa mga akusado ang pagkansela sa eligibility, pagbawi sa retirement benefits, perpetual disqualification from holding public office at pagkuha ng civil service examinations.
