Sa kanyang kauna-unahang official speech matapos ang inagurasyon bilang ika-15th Vice President ng Republika ng Pilipinas ay tatlong pangunahing tinukoy ni Vice President-elect Sara Duterte ang naging dahilan ng pag-alay nito sa sarili sa paglilingkod sa Diyos, sa bansa at sa pamilya.
“One of the most important lessons I have learned as I navigate life and the same thing that I believe we should ponder upon as one country united in our determination to overcome our difficulties and achieve our aspirations — is that we should commit to heart the priorities of God, country, and family,” pahayag ni Duterte sa inagurasyon nito sa San Pedro Square sa Davao City.
Sa kanyang talumpati, na naglarawan ng kanyang buhay bilang katotohanan sa kalooban ng Diyos ay ang pagtitiyak na magiging public servant para sa Doyos, bansa, at sa pamilya.
Aniya, bilang isang medical student na naging abogado, ang buhay nito ay isang testamento sa kagalingan ng Diyos na naimpluwensyahan para isulong ang pamamahala at serbisyo publiko.
Hindi rin kinalimutan ni Duterte na pasalamatan ang mga tagasuporta nito na naging susi para makapagtala ng landslide win noong nakalipas na May 9 national elections.
“The voice of 32.2 million Filipinos was loud and clear — with the message to serve our motherland. And this message has been reiterated in my oath: to consecrate myself to the service of the nation,” sabi nito.
“There is a God. A God whose will transcends the desires of our hearts, one whose will directs us to the way that we might not have imagined — but a way that consecrates ourselves every day to help our fellowmen overcome the difficulties they face in their lives, to change lives, to save lives,” dagdag pa ni Duterte.
“Magkasama sana tayong bumangon bawat araw kasabay ang nag-aalab na pangako sa ating mga puso na mahal natin at patuloy nating mamahalin ang Pilipinas hangga’t tayo ay nabubuhay,” ayon pa sa bagong bise presidente.
Sa nasabing okasyon, dumalo si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., House Majority Leader at Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez, gayundin ang asawa nitong si Atty. Manases Carprio, mga anak na sina Shark, Stingray at Stonefish, at inang si Elizabeth Zimmerman-Duterte.
Dumalo rin sa inagurasyon sina ang kabiyak ni Marcos na si Atty. Lisa Araneta-Marcos, anak at Ilocos Rep. Sandro Marcos, at si Senador Imee Marcos; si dating Pangulo at ngayon ay Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, at Senator-elect Loren Legarda.
Sinabi naman ni Romualdez na ang panalo nina Marcos at Duterte ay tagumpay rin ng ng mahigit sa 31 milyong Filipino na sumuporta sa kandidatura ng mga ito.
“By her victory, she has done her father, President Duterte, her family and her constituents proud. It’s just apt that she wants to begin her term as Vice President in her home city,” ani Romualdez, pangulo ng Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD).
“I have seen up close the synergy between them, their limitless energy, dynamism, dedication to their job, and their compassion, and I have no doubt that they will succeed,” sabi pa ni Romualdez.
