Sinisiguro ni Senador Pia Cayetano na muli nitong ihahain sa Senado sa darating na Kongreso ang Absolute Divorce Bill sa pag-asang sa Marcos administration ay maaprubahan na ito.
Ito ang sinabi ni Cayetano kung saan ire-refile aniya nito ang nasabing panukala sa pagbubukas ng 19th Congress.
“Ire-refile ko ‘yung divorce bill. With all due respect to the religious community, I think they understand that there are circumstances where women in particular, but it could happen to men, of course, that their lives are endangered, both their mental and physical wellbeing are jeopardized,” sabi nito.
“So naniniwala ako na there’s got to be more ways to save lives in that sense through more options of dissolution of marriage,” dagdag pa ni Cayetano.
Magugunitang hindi nakapasa sa Senado at Kamara ang nasabing panukala dahil sa maraming tumutol at oposisyon mula sa mga religious groups.
Noong 18th Congress, nakapasa sa committee level sa Kamara ang Absolute Divorce Act ngunit hindi ito inaksyunan ng House Committee on Population and Family Relations.
