Personal na nagpaabot ng pakikiramay at pakikidalamhati si Leyte Rep. Martin G. Romualdez sa pagkasawi ni dating Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe na biktima ng assassination sa Nara city sa Western Japan noong nakaraang Hulyo 8.
Si Romualdez, ang House Majority Leader ng 18th Congress, ay nagtungo sa official residence ni Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko upang iparating ang pakikiramay nito kay Abe na tinawag nitong “a dear friend of the Filipino people.”
Muli ring inialay ng kongresista ang pakikiramay at simpatiya sa asawa ni Abe na si Mrs. Akie Abe gayundin sa mga kaanak, pamahalaaan at sa mga mamamayan ng Japan.
“With the deepest and most profound condolences and prayers, we mourn the loss and sudden passing of a great leader and true friend,” sa sulat ni Romualdez sa official condolence book.
Binanggit ni Romualdez ang mga kabutihan at pagmamahal ni Abe sa mga Filipino at ang malaking papel nito sa pagpapatibay ng alyansa ng Pilipinas at Japan.
Magugunitang si Abe, 67-anyos ay pinagbabaril habang nagsasalita sa kampanya ng isang lalaki kung saan makalipas ang ilang oras ay idineklara itong patay.
“I join the country of Japan and the Filipino nation in mourning the death of the beloved leader. We send our collective wish across the sea that justice be served to his family and to the Japanese people. This senseless act of violence must be condemned,” sabi pa ng incoming House leader sa 19th Congress.
“Shinzo Abe is a dear friend of the Filipino people, and we are saddened by this dastardly attack on such a peaceful man. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and the people of Japan,” dagdag nito.
