Iginiit ni Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte na mas dadaigin pa ni Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander Marcos ang ilang dati at kasalukuyang kongresista kung pagbabasehan ang galing nito sa paggawa ng batas.
Ito ang pahayag ni Villafuerte kaugnay ng pagkuwestiyon ng ilang kongresista sa pagpili kay Marcos bilang senior deputy majority leader na desisyon umano ng mas nakararaming miyembro ng super majority coalition sa Kamara.
“Sandro (Rep. Marcos)’s excellent grasp of how the legislative process works in the Philippine legislature and his striking familiarity with practically all lawmakers in the House who have been here since the past two Congresses easily obscure his status as a first-time legislator, and has earned him the right to his current post with the unanimous support of the super majority coalition,” paliwanag ni Villafuerte.
“I myself could vouch for these two attributes that are likely to make Sandro excel as a senior deputy majority leader in the 19th Congress,” dagdag pa ng Bicolano solon, na minsan na ring nakatrabaho ni Marcos at naging saksi sa kasanayan at kagalingan at dedikasyon sa trabaho noong manungkulan ang una bilang deputy speaker for finance.
Sinabi pa ni Villafuerte na malamang ay hindi batid ng mga kasalukuyan at dating kongresista na si Marcos ay naging legislative staff ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez noong 18th Congress bilang majority leader.
Aniya, sineseryoso ni Marcos ang naging trabaho nito kay Romualdez bilang protege at naging pangunahing legislative aide kung saan tumulong ito sa mga senior legislators at mga bill proponents para sa pagpasa ng mga pangunahing batas tulad ng annual General Appropriations Acts (GAAs) at ang Bayanihan to Heal as One Act at Bayanihan to Recover as One Act.
“Speaker Martin (Romualdez), who was then-majority leader, assigned Sandro to work with me in the sponsorship of the annual budgets of certain government offices and in the passage of Bayanihan 1 & 2, of which I was the lead author in the House,” sabi ni Villafuerte.
“We had burned the midnight oil together on countless occasions on these major pieces of legislation and that’s where I had observed first hand his dedication to his job and his evolving keen grasp of the legislative process. My staff can attest to Sandro’s dedication to his job as he had worked with us on then-pending measures at my Batasan office often until the wee hours,” dagdag nito.
“If he will work now as hard as he had worked at the then-majority leader’s office in the previous Congress, I am certain he will do a great job as senior deputy majority leader to the satisfaction of our super majority coalition,” ayon pa dito.
