Nanawagan si Quezon City 5th District Rep. PM Vargas sa pamahalaan na itaas ang kasalukuyang suweldo ng mga doktor ng pamahalaan bilang pagkilala sa kanilang kontribusyon at sakripisyo para sa patuloy na paglaban sa COVID-19.
Ayon sa kongresista, ang panawagan nito ay kasabay ng pagdiriwang ng National Heroes’ Day bukas, Agosto 29, kung saan dapat aniyang ituring na bayani ang mga doktor ng pamahalaan.
Sa inihain nitong House Bill 1682 o ang Salary Increase for Government Doctors Bill, mula sa Salary Grade 21 na may katumbas na sahod na P62,449 ay gagawin itong Salary Grade 23 o katumbas ng P78,455.
“Amidst the ongoing challenges brought about by the pandemic, it is imperative that we recognize and thank this generation’s heroes – doctors and other medical frontliners who continue the good work of saving lives and protecting the Filipino people from COVID-19,” paliwanag ni Vargas.
Noong nakalipas na 18th Congress, naging batas ang Benefits and Allowances to Public and Private Health Care Workers Law o ang Republic Act 11712 na iniakda ng kapatid ni Vargas na si dating kongresista at ngayon ay incumbent Quezon City Councilor Alfred Vargas.
“We want to continue providing better opportunities and compensation to our medical heroes so we can also encourage them and future doctors to stay, fight alongside Filipinos, and serve our beloved country together,” sabi pa ng kongresista.
