Pamamahagi ng P1,500 monthly internet allowance sa public school teachers iniapela sa Kongreso

Pinamamadali ng isang kongresista sa Kamara na aprubahan na ang panukalang batas na naglalayong ibigay ang P1,500 buwanang internet allowance para sa lahat ng guro sa mga pampublikong eskuwelahan.

 Ayon kay House Deputy Minority Leader at ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro, ang nasabing allowance ay malaking tulong sa mga guro dahil na rin sa blended distance learning pa rin ang ginagawa ngayon sa mga paaralan.

 Sa inihain nitong House Bill 560, ang P1,500 monthly internet allowance sa lahat ng public school teachers ay dapat na ibigay kahit wala nang pandemya.

“The two years of blended distance learning showed us the importance of having a stable internet connection for both our teachers and students for better learning conditions amid a pandemic. With the reopening of schools for face-to-face classes, teachers nationwide continue to struggle with various tasks requiring the use of information and communications technology with a bulk of online tasks and a substantial need for digital access,” sabi ni Castro.

“The current proposed budget under the NEP for 2023 still contained the measly P5000 annual cash allowance for teachers that consist of P3,500 teaching supplies allowance, P500 for the annual medical check-up of teachers, and a minute P1000 for internet or communications. The allotted P1000 annual communications or internet allowance is far from what our teachers need. They would still have to provide from their already scanty salaries to subscribe to internet services and tend to the demands of their duties,” sabi nito.

Paliwanag pa ng mambabatas na ang buwanang allowance para sa internet ay gagamitin ng mga guro sa kabilang pagtuturo na nagtiis sa loob ng dalawang taon na may pandemya.

“Sa panahon ngayon, ang pagkakaroon ng internet connection ay isang universal right. Para sa mga teachers, ito ay isang basic necessity na rin para mas maayos nilang magampanan ang kanilang trabaho para sa blended learning, communication sa kanilang mga estudyante, reports at research kaya naman dapat bigyan ng gobyerno ng sapat na suporta ang mga guro para masiguro natin na mayroong internet connection ang ating mga guro,” ayon kay Castro.
