Patuloy na tumataas ang inflation rate sa bansa dahil sa pagtaas ng presyo ng pangunahing bilihin at produktong petrolyo.
Ito ang sinabi ng Department of Finance (DOF) kung saan ang inflation para sa buwan ng Setyembre 2022 ay umakyat na sa 6.9 porsiyento mula sa 6.3 porsiyento noong nakaraang buwan habang ang year-to-date inflation ay nasa 5.1 porsiyento.
Ang kuryente, gas at produktong petrolyo ang nakapagtala ng pinakamataas na kontribusyon sa sa inflation na nasa 1.1 percentage point (ppt) habang ang pangunahing nakaapekto sa mataas na food inflation ang karne (0.6 ppt), isda (0.5 ppt), at asukal (0.3 ppt).
Samantala, ang operasyon ng personal transport equipment at passenger transport services ay nakapag-contribute ng 0.9 ppt at 0.4 ppt.
Sinabi pa ng DOF na ang asahan pa ang inflation sa mga susunod na buwan o sa huling bahagi ng taon dahil sa fare hike at ang epekto ng bagyong Karding sa food supply.
“However, inflation is still seen to fall within the 4.5 percent to 5.5 percent assumption of the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) for 2022. Inflation in all regions in the country went above target in September 2022. Davao (Region 11) and Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9), CARAGA (Region 13) and Central Visayas (Region 7) posted the highest inflation rates among the regions,” ayon sa DOF.
“To manage inflation, the continued timely implementation of government measures is crucial in mitigating the impact of persistent supply-side pressures on food and other commodity prices. The government intensifies its measures to help increase the domestic supply by ramping up local production, ensuring timely importation of goods, fertilizers, and raw materials, and improving distribution efficiency,” dagdag nito.
