Umapela ang isang kongresista sa pamahalaan na hanapin at galugarin ang lahat ng overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) para sagipin dahil sa patuloy na giyera sa bansang Sudan.
Ayon kay OFW party list Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino, bagama’t kinikilala nito ang pagsisikap ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) ay dapat na mas maraming gawin ang pamahalaan para masagip ang mga naiipit na OFWs.
“While we acknowledge the repatriation efforts and strategies of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Department of Migrant Workers to bring home around 700 Filipinos living and working in Sudan, we urge the government to explore more avenues of safely and immediately extricating them from the area,” sabi nito.
“We cannot stress enough the urgency of the situation as the fatal clashes in Khartoum continue to endanger the lives of our kababayans. The fierce fighting on the ground also necessitates an action plan for the provision of food and other basic needs of Filipinos in Sudan; they have no other recourse but to look to our own government for help, and we cannot fail them,” dagdag pa nito.
Sinabi pa ni Magsino na nakikipag-ugnayan na ang OFW party list sa DFA at DMW para mapadali ang pagsagip sa mga manggagawang Pinoy sa Sudan.
“Sa ating mga OFWs sa Sudan pati sa kanilang mga pamilya, patuloy po ang ugnayan ng OFW party list sa DFA at DMW para sa koordinasyon sa pagtulong sa mga apektadong kababayan,” pahayag pa ng mambabatas.
Taimtim din na nananalangin ang kongresista para sa kaligtasan ng lahat ng OFWs at makauwi ng bansa at sa kanilang pamilya.
