Ipinagmalaki ng liderato ng Senado na naging produktibo ang trabaho ng mga senador sa pagtatapos ng First Regular Session of the 19th Congress.
Ayon kay Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, na nagdeklara ng sine die kahapon, maraming mahahalagang panukalang batas na naipasa at naghihintay na lamang na pirmahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“Today, we take a short break from a productive year during which we responded to the needs of the people and the challenges of the times with hard work and high purpose. A highlight among our accomplishments is our approval of eight priority measures of the administration,” ani Zubiri
Sa opisyal na datos ng Senado, mahigit sa 2,200 panukalang batas at 630 resolutions ang naisampa sa First Regular Session kabilang ang 31 mahalagang panukala kung saan 22 sa mga ito ang nakatakdang lagdaan ni Marcos at mahigit pang 70 resolutions.
“While this scoreboard shows the quantity of our input, it cannot even begin to describe the quality of each. True to our tradition, we do not agree to proposals without discussion, nor embrace ideas without debate. All of the laws we forge here go through careful study. We do not deliberately make the process slower. What we do is improve them,” ayon pa dito.
Ilan pa sa pinakahuling naipasang panukala bago ang sine die ay ang Senate Bill No. (SBN) 2020 o ang “Maharlika Investment Fund,” na sovereign wealth fund na inaasahang magdadala ng investment government reserves at iba pang public and private capital upang matulungang mapabuti ang ekonomiya ng Pilipinas.
Ang iba pang panukala ay pagbuo ng trabaho at economic opportunities na naipasa ng ng Senado kasama ang SBN 1594 o ang “One Town, One Product (OTOP)” Philippines Act; SBN 2021, o ang Shared Service Facilities Project for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; at SBN 2035, o “Trabaho Para sa Bayan Act”.
At para naman sa mga estudyante at public educators, ipinasa rin ng Senado ang SBN 1359, o ang “No Permit, No Exam Act”; SBN 1864, ang “Student Loan Payment Moratorium during Disasters and Emergencies Act”; at SBN 1604, o mas kilalang “ARAL Program Act”.
Naisama ring ipinasa ng mga senador ang SBN 1964, o ang “Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act”, na magdaragdag sa allowance ng lahat ng public-school teacher mula sa P5,000 hanggang P7,500 para sa school year 2023-2024 hanggang P10,000 kada taon sa mga susunod ang school years.
Habang sa sektor ng kalusugan, ipinasa rin ng Senado ang SBN 1290 o ang “Walkable and Bikeable Communities Act” at SBN 2212 o ang “Regional Specialty Centers Act.”
At ang iba pa ay ang SBN 1480, o an Act Rationalizing the Disability Pension of Veterans; SBN 1850, o ang “Condonation of the Agrarian Reform Debt”; SBN 2219, na nagpapalawig sa Estate Tax Amnesty; SBN 1841, na nag-aamiyenda sa Republic Act No. 10066 o ang “National Cultural Heritage Act”; at SBN 1410, na nagdedeklara tuwing Pebrero 1 kada taon bilang National Day for Awareness of the Muslim garb Hijab.
Magsisimula ang Second Regular Session sa huling linggo ng Hulyo.
