BI umiwas sa usapin ng overcrowding sa NAIA 3

Hugas-kamay ang Bureau of Immigration (BI) sa reklamo ng mga pasahero sa  Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 dahil sa mahabang pila sa mga immigration counters.

Ayon kay BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco, sakabila ng sapat ang bilang ng mga BI personnel sa NAIA T3 at patuloy pang nadagdagan ay hindi maiiwasan na maipon ang mga pasaherong dumarating at umaalis sa bansa.

Nabatid na sa  mga nakalipas na araw ay maraming pasahero ang nagrereklamo dahil sa mahabang pila sa immigration counters maliban pa sa mahabang oras na inilalaan ng mga ito papunta sa paliparan.

“But although our manpower at the airport is more than enough, these long queues of passengers could not be avoided due to many factors, foremost of which is the recent transfer of several airlines from NAIA 1 to NAIA 3 that resulted from the impending shutdown of international flight operations at NAIA 2,” sabi ni Tansingco.

 Itinuro nito ang nakaraang paglilipat sa NAIA T3 ng China Southern Airlines, Gulf Air, Jeju Air, Thai Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Jetstar, Starlux, at Scoot, na nagresulta ng nasa 10 porsiyentong dagdag sa average number ng mga pasahero na umaalis sa NAIA 3 kada araw.

Maliban sa nararanasang congestion problem sa NAIA 3 ay ang mga flight delays at diversions bunsod ng masamang panahon at madalas na pagdedeklara ng lighting alerts.

“We are constantly coordinating our efforts with the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) in seeking the best solution to address this perennial problem of overcrowding in our immigration areas at the NAIA. Among these are the installation of additional BI counters and expanding the space of our departure area,” ayon sa BI chief.

Aniya, hindi tumitigil ang BI na maghanap ng karagdagan pang mga bagong immigration inspectors.

 “In fact, due to the augmentation of our manpower, we have granted the request of our airport terminal heads outside Metro Manila, such as those in Clark, Mactan and Davao, by reassigning immigration officers to their turfs,” sabi nito.

Dagdag pa ng opisyal, ang 99 immigration officers ay dadalhin sa NAIA terminals 1 at 3 sa Hunyo 16 sa oras na magsara ang NAIA 2 para sumailalim sa pagsasaayos.
