Tiniyak ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez sa mga negosyong Amerikano ang matatag na pangako ng Kongreso na suportahan ang mga inisyatiba at programa ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. upang gawing mas investor-friendly na lugar ang Pilipinas.
“The 19th Congress, in partnership with President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., is committed to creating an environment that fosters economic growth and attracts investments,” ani Romualdez sa kanyang mensahe sa mga miyembro ng American Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (AmCham).
“As Speaker of the House of Representatives, it is my duty to promote policies that enhance the growth and prosperity of our nation, and I believe that our partnership with the American business community is vital to achieving these goals,” dagdag nito.
Si Romualdez ay naging panauhing pandangal at tagapagsalita ng AmCham para sa kanilang June General Membership Luncheon Meeting Miyerkules ng hapon sa Fairmont Hotel sa Makati City.
Sinabi ni Romualdez na ang partnership sa pagitan ng Executive at Legislative branches ng gobyerno ay nagresulta sa isang komprehensibong legislative agenda na nakatuon sa mga pangunahing sektor na mahalaga para sa pag-unlad ng ating bansa.
“First and foremost, we aim to strengthen our infrastructure through the passage of landmark bills. Infrastructure development is a key driver of economic growth, and we are determined to address the gaps and bottlenecks that hinder our progress,” sabi nito.
Aniya, ang programang “Build Better More” ay nananatiling nangunguna sa mga pagsusumikap sa pagpapaunlad ng pamahalaan, na isusulong ng Kongreso ang batas na magpapadali sa proseso ng pagpapahintulot, nagtataguyod ng public-private partnerships, at nagtitiyak ng napapanatiling financing ng mga proyektong pang-imprastraktura.
Sinabi rin nito na ang Kongreso ay nakatuon sa pagpasa ng mga batas na nagpapahusay sa edukasyon at mga sistema ng pagpapaunlad ng kasanayan sa bansa upang matiyak na ang mga manggagawa ay mananatiling mapagkumpitensya at madaling ibagay sa mabilis na umuunlad na pandaigdigang ekonomiya.
“To further support economic growth, we will prioritize the passage of measures that improve our business environment. We recognize the need for tax reforms that promote simplicity, fairness, and competitiveness,” ayon pa dito.
“We will also work towards easing regulatory burdens and enhancing transparency to create a more business-friendly climate that attracts both local and foreign investors,” sabi ni Romualdez.
Dagdag pa rito, uunahin aniya ng 19th Congress ang pagpasa ng batas na nagsusulong ng sustainable development at ang paglipat sa malinis at renewable energy sources upang matugunan ang mga hamon na dala ng climate change.
Sinabi ni Romualdez na ang Kamara ay patuloy na magsisikap na maipasa ang mga mahahalagang batas, tulad ng 19th Congress ang First Regular Session nitong buwan kung saan inaprubahan ng Kamara ang 33 sa 42 priority measures ng administrasyong Marcos, tatlo sa mga ito ay nilagdaan na bilang batas.
“Among the measures that both Houses approved was the Maharlika Investment Fund bill, which seeks to create the country’s first-ever sovereign investment fund. This is designed to promote economic development by making strategic and profitable investments in key sectors including public road networks, tollways, green energy, water, agro-industrial ventures, and telecommunications,” pahayag pa nito.
