Kinumpirma ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) na isang estudyante ng University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman ang biktima ng sexual assault sa loob ng nasabing paaralan.
Sa inilabas na pahayag ang ni CHED chairman Prospero de Vera III, Hulyo 1 nang mangyari ang krimen sa kahabaan ng Ylanan Road, sa nasabing unibersidad.
Ayon kay De Vera, ang biktima ay kasalukuyang nagpapagaling habang patuloy na pinaghahanap ang hindi nakilalang suspek.
“We extend our deep concern to our victim-survivor. I have asked the University Administration to extend all possible assistance to the student and her family at this time of great challenge. I share with the entire UP Community our full support for her and her family in overcoming this difficult traumatic hurdle in their lives and in the longer process of healing,” nakasaad sa kalatas ng CHED.
Inatasan na rin nito ang UP President at ang UP Diliman Chancellor na siguruhin na maibibigay ang lahat ng tulong sa biktima at pinakilos ang UP administrative and security officials na makipagtulungan sa Philippine National Police (PNP) para sa agarang paglutas sa kaso.
“The UP administration must tap the expertise of the PNP to identify, track and apprehend all those responsible for this reprehensible act of violence,” sabi pa ni De Vera.
Aminado ito na isang wake up call ito para sa naturang institusyon para mabusising muli ang mga polisiya kaugnay sa seguridad at kaligtasan sa unibersidad kabilang na ang koordinasyon nito sa Philippine National Police (PNP) at iba pang law enforcement agencies.
“This despicable criminal act is a wake up call for the UP tp review and rationalize its security and safety policies, including its operational engagement with the PNP and other law enforcement agencies in order to make the UP Community safe and secure,” dagdag pa nito.
Sa parte naman ng pamunuan ng unibersidad, magpapakalat ito ng karagdagang roving security personnel at officers sa iba’t ibang lugar pagkatapos ng office hours kasunod ng insidente.
