Pinarangalan at kinilala ng Department of Tourism (DOT) ang eTravel system ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na malaking ginhawa sa mga lokal at dayuhang turista.
Tinanggap ni Jose Dennis Javier, BI Technical Assistant for Border Control Operations at chairperson ng eTravel Sub-Technical Working Group, ang plaque of recognition mula sa DOT sa ginanap na forum ng 2022 Philippine Tourism Industry Performance and Tourism Satellite Accounts noong Hulyo 5 sa Philippine International Convention Center sa Pasay City.
Ipinaliwanag ni Javier ang eTravel, na joint project ng ilang ahensya ng pamahalaan at inilunsad ngayong taon at single data collection platform para sa mga dumating at umaalis na pasahero.
Nagtatatag ito ng integrated border control, health surveillance, at economic data analysis.
Ang nasabing proyekto ay pinagkaisa ng DOT, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), ng Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), ng Bureau of Customs (BOC), ng Department of Health (DOH), ng Department of Transportation (DOTr), ng Department of Justice (DOJ) at ng National Privacy Commission (NPC).
Ang proyekto ay pinuri para sa pagbabawas ng mga kinakailangan na nakabatay sa papel para sa mga manlalakbay, gamit ang isang sistemang katulad ng ginagamit ng ibang mga advanced countries.
“Our main focus now is really modernization. Technologies really help us provide a more efficient and effective border management,” ayon sa BI.
