Tiwala si House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez na mangyayari pa rin na maabot ang P20 kada kilo ng bigas na ipinangako ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr..
Ayon sa lider ng Kamara, susundan ng Kamara de Representantes ang pamumuno ni Pangulong Marcos upang matupad ang layuning inilatag nito sa kanyang unang State of the Nation Address (SONA) na ibaba ang inflation rate, mabawasan ang mga walang trabaho at maibaba sa P20 ang kada kilo ng bigas.
Aniya, bagama’t hindi pa naaabot ang layuning inilatag ng Pangulo noong nakaraang taon malaki na umano ang nagawa ng administrasyon pagtungo sa pagkamit ng mga mithiing ito.
“As we’ve already seen, the inflation rate is going down so tama ‘yung direksyon pero hindi pa talaga tayo nakaabot sa punto na mababa na talaga ang presyo ng mga bilihin. We want to get there, that’s the direction,” ani Speaker Romualdez, lider ng 312 miyembro ng Kamara.
“Dito rin sa trabaho, or ‘yung jobs, ‘yung unemployment. The unemployment rate is going down pero marami pa rin ang walang trabaho. So while we are not yet there, ‘yung direksyon po ay tama,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez, isang administration stalwart at presidente ng Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD).
Sinabi ni Romualdez na bumagal ang inflation rate noong nakaraang buwan sa 5.4 porsiyento mula sa 8.7 porsiyento noong Enero.
Ang headline inflation na 5.4 porsiyento noong Hunyo ay pinakamababa sa nakalipas na 13 buwan.
Base sa datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) kaugnay ng unemployment rate, sinabi ni Romualdez na bumaba ito sa 4.5 porsiyento noong Abril mas mababa kumpara sa 5.7 porsiyento noong Abril 2022 at 4.7 porsiyento noong Marso.
“We have had surveys and focus groups on the developments in the administration’s satisfaction (ratings) … in terms of the people who are in favor of the administration’s general direction. We are moving in the right (direction) and they (the people) are better off now than they were in the previous years,” ani Romualdez.
“One of our pollsters here said it’s actually good news. But obviously, we join the President’s fervor and dedication and his sense of urgency that, maski na maganda ang direksyon po ng progreso ng administrasyon, we still have a lot of work to do. Marami pa po,” dagdag pa nito.
Upang maabot ang P20 presyo ng kada kilo ng bigas, sinabi ni Romualdez na nananatiling determinado ang Pangulo na matupad ito.
“We are not yet there but we will soon approach that. We will make sure that in the House, we will take initiatives as we had done in the previous regular session that we will focus on the availability of affordable rice and we will try to target that 20 pesos per kilo,” sabi pa ni Romualdez.
“That is our aspiration and we will be headed towards that and we will find ways and means to make sure that local production is up and that there will be fewer, if not no more occasions, for hoarding or profiteering,” ayon pa dito.
Sinabi rin ng lider ng Kamara na mayroong mga Kadiwa ng Ani at Kita store na nagbebenta ng bigas sa halagang P25 kada kilo.
