Pinuri ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang partnership na itinatag sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Malaysia sa industriya ng Halal, na nagsasabing ito ay lilikha ng mas maraming trabaho at mga pagkakataon sa negosyo para sa parehong bansa.
Noong Martes, inihayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. sa isang joint press conference kasama si Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim na sila ay sumang-ayon na ipatawag ang susunod na pagpupulong ng Philippines-Malaysia Joint Commission upang talakayin ang prayoridad na kooperasyon sa larangan ng mutual interest, kabilang ang Halal industry.
“The agreement between the Philippines and Malaysia to cooperate in this vital sector undoubtedly signifies a significant step towards the creation of more jobs, as well as livelihood and business prospects of our people,” sabi ni Romualdez.
Nabanggit nito na ayon sa market research, ang global halal food market size ay umabot sa US$ 2,221.3 billion noong 2022 at inaasahang aabot sa US$ 4,177.3 billion sa 2028.
“The Halal industry holds immense potential. By working together, we can capitalize on the Halal market’s vast opportunities, creating new avenues for trade, investment, and employment,” ayon kay Romualdez.
Ang Malaysia, isa sa mga nangungunang Halal industry sa buong mundo, ay nag-alok ng kanilang kadalubhasaan para sanayin ang mga tauhan at opisyal ng Pilipinas sa sektor na ito, partikular ang mga nasa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), gayundin sa iba pang larangan ng pakikipagtulungan.
Dahil dito, sinabi ni Romualdez na ang ugnayan ng dalawang bansa sa Halal industry na nabuo sa state visit ni Pangulong Marcos sa Malaysia ay magpapalakas ng competitiveness ng mga negosyo, partikular sa agri-food sector.
“With President Marcos’ priority on digitalization of government process and improved Internet connectivity, we can tap e-commerce channels and social media to market our goods globally and profit from the growing demand worldwide for Halal products,” sabi pa ng lider ng Kamara.
Idinagdag pa ni Romualdez na ang kanyang pangako na handang isaalang-alang ng Kamara ang mga hakbang na makatutulong sa bansa na makinabang mula sa muling nabuhay na ugnayan sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Malaysia.
“The House of Representatives stands ready to support any legislative measures necessary to facilitate the successful implementation of this bilateral cooperation in the Halal industry. We will work in tandem with the executive branch to create an enabling environment that fosters innovation, investment, and responsible business practices,” aniya pa.
Inihalimbawa pa ni Romualdez, ang House Bill No. 07118 na naglalayong amiyendahan ang Republic Act No. 9997, o kilala bilang National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Act of 2009, na naglalayong isulong ang mga lokal na Halal enterprise at product development.
Samantala, nagpahayag din ng kumpiyansa si Romualdez na ang tatlong araw na state visit ni Marcos sa Malaysia ay magkakaroon ng karagdagang benepisyo para sa mga tao ng parehong bansa.
“This significant partnership is a testament to the vision and leadership of both President Marcos and Prime Minister Anwar. Let us move forward with determination and optimism, united in our pursuit of a prosperous future for both the people of the Philippines and Malaysia,” sa pahayag pa ni Romualdez.
