Sa Manila Bay Reclamation projects

Dapat na tiyakin ng pamahalaan na masampahan ng kaso ang mga opisyal ng pamahalaan o sinumang indibiduwal na mapapatunayang sangkot sa kontrobersyal na Manila Bay Reclamation projects.
Ito ang sinabi ni Senador Chiz Escudero kasabay ng pagsasabing suportado nito ang desisyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na suspendehin ang isinasagawang reclamation projects sa Manila Bay.
Si Escudero, na naunang nagbabala sa Malacañang laban sa pagharang sa mga proyekto ng reclamation batay sa pag-aalala ng United States government sa matagalang epekto sa kapaligiran, nilinaw na hindi ito tumututol sa isang pagsusuri hangga’t ito ay batay sa ebidensya, at hindi
arbitrary.
“If the investigation eventually finds corruption for irregularity in the granting of the environmental permits, they should rectify it if it can still be rectified “taking into account the huge investments involved,” sabi ni Escudero.
“Make sure that it will not have any adverse impacts on our environment, given climate change, as well as the safety and convenience of our people in potentially affected areas,” dagdag pa nito.
“Lastly, if any will be cancelled or rectified, appropriate charges to be filed against erring officials and individuals in order to exact accountability/responsibility para hindi na tularan pa ng iba,” aniya pa.
Ang planong 24 reclamation projects sa Manila Bay ay naglalayong gumawa ng bagong lupa para sa commercial at residential development.
Ayon sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) ookupahan nito ang 9,000 ektarya ng karagatan na mas malaki sa sukat ng mga syudad ng Manila, Makati, Pasay, San Juan at Pateros.
