DFA binatikos sa mabagal na pagtulong sa mga Pinoy sa Maui, Hawaii

Binatikos ni House Deputy Minority leader at ACT Teachers party list Rep. France Castro ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa mabagal na pagtukoy at pagbibigay ng tulong sa mga Pilipinong naapektuhan ng malawakang wildfire sa Maui, Hawaii, na nagsimulang kumalat noong Agosto 8.

“It is disheartening to see that our fellow Filipinos in Maui, Hawaii are left without immediate assistance and support in the wake of this tragic wildfire. The DFA’s slow action in identifying and helping our kababayans is a matter of grave concern,” giit ni Castro.

Binigyan-diin pa ng militanteng kongresista ang kahalagahan ng papel ng DFA sa pagtiyak sa kapakanan at kaligtasan ng mga Pilipino sa ibang bansa, lalo na sa panahon ng krisis.

“The DFA has the responsibility to promptly respond and provide necessary aid to our kababayans who are in distress. We cannot afford to leave them in vulnerable situations without any immediate support,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.

Nanawagan din si Castro sa DFA na mabilis na makipag-ugnayan sa mga kinauukulang awtoridad at organisasyon sa Hawaii para matiyak ang kaligtasan at kapakanan ng mga apektadong Pilipino.

“The DFA must take immediate action to identify and locate our kababayans affected by the wildfire, and extend all necessary assistance to them. We cannot allow any delays in providing the help they urgently need,” giit nito.

Higit pa rito, hinimok ni Castro ang DFA na suriin at pagbutihin ang mga protocols at mekanismo nito para sa pagtugon sa mga emergency na kinasasangkutan ng mga Pilipino sa ibang bansa.

“This incident highlights the need for a more efficient and proactive approach in safeguarding the welfare of our overseas Filipino workers and citizens. The DFA must take this opportunity to reassess its strategies and enhance its capacity to swiftly respond to similar situations in the future,” pahayag pa nito.

Nanawagan din ito sa pamahalaan, mga kinauukulang ahensya, at mga kinauukulang indibidwal na mag-abot ng tulong at tiyakin ang kapakanan ng mga Pilipino sa mga mapanghamong panahong ito.

“We must unite in providing aid and support to our fellow Filipinos and all those affected by the wildfire. Let us stand together and work towards their safety, recovery, and well-being,” aniya pa.
