“We thank the authorities in Kuwait–from its police force to its court–for helping serve justice in the case of our kababayan, Jullebee Ranara,” ani Romualdez.

“Her brutal killing shocked us to our core, especially the OFWs. This verdict goes a long way in assuaging their fears. All they want is to do decent work in order to build their families’ future,” sabi ng lider ng 311 miyembro ng Kamara.

“This is also a recognition of the importance of OFWs in the Arab states and beyond. We help keep together these foreign homes, we help build their impressive edifices, and we take care of their elderly and sick when nobody else is willing to,” dagdag pa nito.

“The long arm of the law has given justice to Jullebee Ranara and her bereaved family. Though her family still has to contend with the deep loss of their loved one, it is our hope that the justice achieved through the court’s decision will somehow lessen the sting of the wounds they carry,” ayon pa kay Magsino.

“But the overarching issue still remains — there must be a fundamental transformation of the conditions under which Filipino migrant domestic workers can work and live in their host countries. We need key reforms through stronger bilateral agreements that should include a standard contract, a system for rescuing workers in distress, and investigating worker abuses and deaths,” paliwanag pa nito.
