Isinusulong ilang kongresista ang panukala na nanawagan na lumipat na rin ng bagong gusali ang Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso tulad ng Senado.
Sa House Resolution No. 1390 na ipinanukala nina Senior Deputy Speaker at Pampanga Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr., Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Raymund “Lray” Villafuerte Jr. at Quezon Rep. David “Jay-jay” Suarez, layon nito na bumuo ang Kamara ng ad hoc committee na mag-aaral para sa pagtatayo na bagong gusali ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso.
Paliwanag ng nasabing mga kongresista, ang paglilipat ng gusali ng Kamara, mula sa Batasang Pambansa sa Quezon City, di kalayuan sa Senado ay magbubunga ng magandang komunikasyon at legislative work sa pagitan ng dalawang kapulungan.
“Both the House and Senate used to share space, before the war, in the Legislative Building, which was the origin of term “upper house” and “lower house”, where the Senate had its session hall at the second floor while the House had its session hall on the ground floor,” nakasaad sa HR 1390.
Nabatid na ang bagong Senate building na nasa Bonifacio Global City (BGC) at malapit nang matapos kung saan posibleng sa Hulyo 2024 ay magagamit na ito.
Sinimulan ang pagtatayo ng nasabing gusali noong 17th Congress taong 2017 matapos isulong ni dating Senador Panfilo Lacson, chairman ng Senate committee on accounts, para sa mas malaking espasyo at pagkakaroon ng mga makabagong pasilidad.
“The accessibility of public transport through efficient transportation options, including buses, shuttles, and the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) system, excellent connectivity to major thoroughfares, airports, and other key areas in Metro Manila, should be a key consideration for all the legislators, employees, and guest of the House of Representatives,” sabi pa ng mga kongresista.
“Proximity to other government agencies, multinational corporations, leading local businesses, and tech start-ups, should also be taken into account for access to different sorts of Filipinos from every walk of life,” anila.
