Tinitiyak ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na sapat ang bilang ng mga tauhan nito sa mga paliparan at pantalan sa buong bansa para asistehan ang mga lokal at dayuhang turista ngayong panahon ng holiday seasons.
Ayon kay Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, ipinagbawal na nito sa mga BI personnel na nakatalaga sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at sa iba pang paliparan na lumiban sa trabaho o magbakasyon simula Nobyembre 15, 2023 hanggang Enero 15, 2024.
“This is the time of the year when there is always an upsurge and influx of passengers and other international ports as Filipinos abroad, mostly overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), Balikbayans or former Filipinos, would spend the holidays with their families or relatives here,” ayon kay Tansingco.
Idinagdag pa nito na ang ban ay ipatutupad din sa lahat ng BI port personnel Clark, Mactan, Davao at Kalibo; at Zamboanga international seaport.
“We have to see to it that our counters at the airports are fully manned during the holidays when there is a tremendous volume of international passengers arriving and departing at the airports,” sabi ng BI chief.
Aniya, simula pa noong Undas holiday break ay nagsimula nang dumagsa ang mga pasahero sa paliparan at pantalan kung kaya’t nakaalerto na ang mga immigration counters para mapabilis ang immigration processing ng mga pasahero.
“Our kababayans abroad have started to come home while foreigners who wish to visit or reunite with their families in their native lands have also began leaving,” ayon pa dito.
Sa datos ng BI, mula Enero hanggang Oktubre 2023, mahigit sa 20 milyong pasahero ang umalis at dumating sa bansa at inaasahang dadami pa ito habang nalalapit ang Kapaskuhan at Bagong Taon.
