Inaresto ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) sa Clark International Airport (CIA) ang isang American pedophile na wanted ng ahensya at US federal authorities dahil sa pang-aabuso sa mga kabataan.
Sa isang ulat kay Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, sinabi ng border control and intelligence unit (BCIU) ng BI na naharang at inaresto si Steven Daniel Griswold, 42-anyos noong Sabado nang tangkaing umalis ng bansa sa pamamagitan ng Cebu Pacific Airways flight light papuntang Tokyo, Japan.
“He was arrested after immigration officers who encountered confirmed that the passenger and the American who is in our watchlist of wanted foreign fugitives are one and the same,” sabi ni BI-BCIU deputy operations chief Joseph Cueto.
Agad na dinala si Griswold sa BI warden facility sa Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig habang nakabinbin ang pagpapalabas ng kautusan para sa kanyang summary deportation ng board of commissioners ng bureau.
Nabatid na inilagay si Griswold sa watchlist matapos itong sampahan ng kasong deportasyon ng BI prosecutors laban dahil sa pagiging undesirable alien.
Ang nasabing kaso ay nag-ugat sa ulat na natanggap ng BI mula sa US authorities na si Griswold ay may warrant of arrest na inisyu ng US district court sa Oregon kung saan ito ay kinasuhan ng sexual exploitation of children, attempted sexual exploitation of children, at pagtanggap ng child pornography.
Sinabi ni Tansingco na ilalagay si Griswold sa immigration blacklist para hindi na muling makapasok sa Pilipinas matapos siyang ma-deport.
“He will be perpetually banned from entering the country as foreign pedophiles like him do not deserve the privilege to stay here even for a second. They should be kicked out because they pose a serious threat to our children, anyone of whom could be his next victim,” ayon sa BI chief.
