Pinaiimbestigahan ng isang kongresista ang nangyayaring malawakang power outrages sa buong lalawigan ng Panay Island at bahagi ng Negros Islands.
Sinabi ni Deputy Majority Leader at Iloilo Rep. Julienne “Jam” L. Baronda na kailangan ang masusing pagsisiyasat ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso gamit ang Congressional oversight function nito upang pangalagaan ang kapakanan ng publiko.
Aniya, ang imbestigasyon noong Abril 2023 na region-wide power outages ng Committee on Energy kaugnay ng House Resolution 933, na inihain ng mga kapwa Ilonggo representatives, ay hindi pa natatapos.
At ngayong muling pagkakaroon ng power outrages sa unang bahagi ng 2024 ay labis na nagpapahirap sa mga Ilonggo at mistulang hindi pa natututo ng leksyon ang mga responsable at may pananagutan sa nasabing power outrages.
“During the committee hearing last August 2023, I strongly pushed for the full implementation of the interconnection of the Luzon and Visayas Grids that would pass through Mindoro as one of the measures to address the power problem on Panay Island,” sabi ni Baronda
“Last month, we also spoke with Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary Sharon Garin to help us hasten the interconnection, which she has kindly acceded to and is currently working on to realize. We are doing our share in finding lasting solutions to the energy problem affecting us all,” dagdag pa nito.
