Mariing kinondena ni Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III ang nangyaring pananambang sa isang doktor ng gobyerno at nanawagan ng mabilis na aksyon upang mabigyan ng hustisya ang mga salarin at matiyak ang kaligtasan ng mga medical professionals.
Nabatid na si Dr. Charmaine Ceballos Barroquillo, na government physician sa Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital, ay malubhang nasugatan sa nangyaring pananambang sa isang remote area sa Maguindanao Del Sur.
“In times when those dedicated to saving lives face grave threats, it becomes the nation’s duty to safeguard them. It is our responsibility to protect our doctors,” ani Pimentel.
“These doctors have invested a lot of their time, talent, and resources to be who they are. And the Philippine State has also invested a lot in them. Hence, we should protect these educated and knowledgeable people with the ability to improve our health and general well-being,” dagdag pa nito.
Sinabi ng senador ba itinatampok ng insidente ang mga panganib na kinakaharap ng mga healthcare workers sa ilang lugar sa Pilipinas kung saan nagpapatuloy ang mga banta sa seguridad at armadong labanan.
“Let us put an end to the senseless violence against our doctors. It is time to prioritize the protection of our healthcare professionals,” giit ni Pimentel.
Ani Pimentel, dapat hulihin ng mga awtoridad ang mga salarin at magpatupad ng mga hakbang para pangalagaan ang buhay ng mga doktor at iba pang frontline healthcare workers.
Nagbabala si Pimentel na ang hindi mabilis na pagresolba sa insidente ay maaaring magkaroon ng nakakatakot na epekto sa mga doktor, lalo na sa mga naglilingkod sa malalayo at may kaguluhang komunidad.
“Our authorities must apprehend the perpetrators and implement measures to safeguard the lives of doctors and other frontline healthcare workers,” pahayag ni Pimentel.
