Speaker Romualdez naalarma sa pagdaan ng Chinese vessels sa Philippine Rise

Nagpahayag ng pagkabahala si Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez sa napaulat na presensya ng mga sasakyang pandagat ng China na nagkalat at nagsasagawa ng mga aktibidad sa pananaliksik sa loob ng Philippine Rise, na nasa loob ng exclusive economic zone (EZZ) ng bansa.

Giit ni Romualdez, ang Philippine Rise ay isang mahalagang bahagi ng teritoryo ng bansa at binigyan-diin na anumang hindi awtorisadong presensya o aktibidad ng mga dayuhang sasakyang-dagat sa lugar ay sumisira sa mga karapatan sa soberanya ng bansa.

“The Philippines will not compromise its territorial integrity or allow any encroachment upon its sovereign rights. Philippine Rise is unquestionably within our EZZ, and we will assert our authority to safeguard our maritime domain,” ayon sa lider ng Kamara.

“The Philippine Rise is a vital marine resource rich in biodiversity and potential for scientific research, as well as economic opportunities for our country. We must protect and harness its full potential for the benefit of the Filipino people,” dagdag nito.

Sa pagtugon sa isyu ng mga sasakyang pandagat ng China na nagsasagawa ng mga aktibidad sa pagsasaliksik sa Philippine Rise nang walang tamang awtorisasyon, binigyan-diin ni Romualdez ang pangangailangan ng transparency at pagsunod sa mga international laws and protocols.

“We call on all nations to respect the rights of coastal states, uphold the principles of international law, and refrain from any activities that undermine regional stability and maritime security,” aniya pa.

Ipinahayag din ni Romualdez ang kanyang tiwala sa pangako ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas na pangalagaan ang interes ng bansa at tiyakin ang rule of law sa rehiyon.

“The Philippine government remains steadfast in its duty to protect our sovereignty and preserve our national interest. We will work closely with relevant agencies to address this issue effectively and assert our rights within the bounds of international law,” ayon pa dito.

Muling pinagtibay ni Romualdez ang hindi natitinag na pangako ng bansa na pangalagaan ang integridad ng teritoryo nito at protektahan ang mga karapatan sa soberanya sa harap ng anumang hindi awtorisadong aktibidad ng mga dayuhang sasakyang pandagat sa loob ng EZZ.

“The Philippines will not back down or yield an inch of its territory. We will continue to assert our rights over the Philippine Rise and any other maritime areas that belong to us under international law,” sabi pa ni Romualdez.
