Iniulat ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) na ang bagong itinayong istruktura ay makakatulong sa pagpapalabas ng tubig-baha sa Balihatar Creek sa lungsod ng Las Piñas.
Sa ulat kay DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, binanggit ni DPWH National Capital Region Director Loreta M. Malaluan ang proyekto na tinapos ng DPWH Las Piñas-Muntinlupa District Engineering Office (DEO) sa pagsisikap na maiwasan ang pagbaha sa paligid ng nasabing ilog.
“Box culvert and retaining wall were constructed along the 416.6-meter section of Balihatar Creek. These structures help widen the waterway and ensure unobstructed water flow, protecting nearby homes and other structures,” sabi ni Malauan.
“Come rainy season, residents are assured of a barrier that can withstand the overflowing of floodwater, which would reduce occurrence of flooding in the area,” dagdag pa nito.
Ang flood control project sa kahabaan ng Balihatar Creek ay natapos ng DPWH Las Piñas-Muntinlupa DEO sa halagang P47.03 milyon.
