Humingi ng paumanhin si Senador Chiz Escudero sa publiko matapos masangkot ang sport utility vehicle na pag-aari nito sa paglabag sa bus lane noong nakalipas na Abril 11 sa Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).
Sa inilabas na kalatas ni Escudero, sinabi nitong pagmamay-ari nito ang SUV na may plate number 7 na hinuli ng mga tauhan ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) matapos dumaan sa bus lane.
“The use of the protocol plate was unauthorized, as the vehicle was being driven by the driver of a family member. The No. 7 protocol plate was also abused because vehicles with these plates are not allowed to use bus lanes,” sabi ni Escudero.
Aniya, makaraang makarating sa kaalaman nito na nahuli ang driver ng sasakyan nito na nang ibigay ang lisensya ay agad na tumakas, agad na nakipag-ugnayan ito sa MMDA at Land Transportation Office (LTO).
“Following the incident, I have directed the driver to appear before the LTO to comply with the show-cause order issued to him and to answer the charges he faces for the violation,” saad pa ng senador.
“I do not personally use the protocol license plates issued to me, and forthwith the protocol plates involved in the incident will be surrendered to the LTO,” ayon pa dito.
“I commend the authorities for their vigilance and reiterate my support for government efforts to ensure that traffic rules and regulations in Metro Manila are observed by all—regardless of rank, title or position,” dagdag pa ni Escudero.
Humingi rin ng paumanhin si Escudero sa mga kapwa nito senador sa pangyayari kasabay ng pagsasabing titiyakin na ang protocol plates na ipinagkaloob sa kanya ay nakakasunod sa Executive Order No. 56, s. 2024.
“I apologize to the public and my colleagues in the Senate for this oversight. Moving forward, I commit to ensure that the protocol plates entrusted to me are used appropriately, consistent with the provisions of Executive Order No. 56, s. 2024,” paghayag pa ni Escudero.
