Naniniwala ang isang kongresista kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. na sa pakikipag-usap nito kay US President Joe Biden at Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida ay magbibigay ng katatagan at kapayapaan sa Into-Pacific region sa gitna ng paulit-ulit na pagsalakay ng China sa West Philippine Sea.
“We hope that with this Trilateral Summit, the heightened tensions in the WPS will be reduced, if not totally stopped. These were brought about by the unprovoked actions of Beijing where their vessels have been hitting ours with water canons,” ayon sa pahayag ni House Assistant Majority Leader at La Union 1st District Rep. Paolo P. Ortega V.
“This is a step in the right direction. We need all the support we can get from our usual allies in the international community. We also need them to guide us how to deal with such a recurring problem, since China has been doing this despite our complaints,” sabi pa ni Ortega, miyembro ng Young Guns sa Kamara.
Umaasa aniya ito na ang pakikipagpulong ni Pangulong Marcos sa mga pinuno ng Estados Unidos at Japan ay makatutulong na hikayatin ang China na umatras mula sa pagpasok sa teritoryo ng Pilipinas, na nasa loob ng 200 mile exclusive economic zone.
“We cannot afford to just let their (Chinese) vessels block our ships and prevent our fishermen from getting their daily livelihood in our very own shores. That is simply not fair, to say the least,” sabi nito.
Binigyan-diin din ni Ortega ang kahalagahan ng naturang summit, na isang “lugar kung saan maaaring pag-usapan ng mga kaalyado tulad ng US at Japan ang mga paraan kung paano mabawasan ang nangyayaring magulong nsidente” sa karagatan ng Palawan at Zambales, na humahadlang sa mga mangingisda, at resupply mission team.
Pinuri rin nito si Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez sa pagtulong nito na pagaanin ang pasanin ng Pangulo dahil sa maraming problema na kailangan nitong harapin sa pagsisikap na bigyan ang mga Pilipino ng mas magandang buhay.
