Bilang pagpupugay sa International Firefighters Day, iminungkahi ni Quezon City District V Rep. PM Vargas ang panukalang batas para mapahusay ang kaligtasan ng sunog sa loob ng mga komunidad.
Layon ng inisyatiba na mag-install ng mga firehose cabinets sa 150-meter-interval. Ito ay resulta ng mga konsultasyon sa Quezon City District’s Fire Bureau, na tutulong sa kanila sa pagtugon sa mga insidente ng sunog sa mga lugar na makapal ang populasyon.
“Providing accessible firehoses would bolster the capacity of our firefighters to respond and significantly enhance the communities’ resilience to fire-related incidents,” sabi ng kongresista, sa inihain nitong “Fire Proof Barangay Act” sa Committee on Local Government.
Sa kanyang explanatory note, binigyan-diin ni Vargas ang kahalagahan ng madiskarteng pag-install ng mga firehose, upang mabawasan ang oras ng pagtugon sa panahon ng mga emergency, lalo na sa mga lugar na makapal ang tao na may makikitid na eskinita na hindi makadaan sa mga fire trucks.
“This initiative is a commitment to proactive disaster management and a product of listening to the long-standing concerns raised by the brave firefighters in the District,” ayon pa dito.
Ang International Firefighters Day ay inoobserba taun-taon kada May 4 upang kilalanin ang mga sakripisyo at dedikasyon ng mga firefighters worldwide.
“We enjoin the world in commending our firefighters who have been in the forefront to save lives and properties. They are our everyday heroes whose dedication is beyond compare,” ani Vargas.
