Pagbabalik sa lumang school calendar pinagtibay ng Kamara; Geriatric Health Act umusad sa 2nd reading

Inaprubahan na ng Kamara de Representantes sa pamumuno ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez sa ikalawang pagbasa ang House Bill 10174, o ang panukalang “Geriatric Health Act.”

Layon ng panukala na gawing National Center for Geriatric Health and Research Institute ang Dr. Eva Macaraeg-Macapagal National Center for Geriatric Health, na nasa ilalim ng Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC).

Sa kanyang sponsorship speech, sinabi ni House Committee on Health chairperson at Batanes Rep. Ciriaco Gato Jr. na ang panukala ay isa sa mga prayoridad na specialty facilities na magsisilbi bilang isang apex hospital, o end referral center na dalubhasa sa geriatric health care.

“Madam Speaker, distinguished colleagues, the immediate passage into law of this vital piece of legislation will serve more than 10% of the Philippine population or roughly about 12 million senior citizens. This number is expected to rapidly increase in the succeeding years considering the rapid aging population of the country,” aniya.

Pinatibay din ng Kamara ang House Resolution 1650, na nananawagan sa Department of Education (DepEd) na ibalik sa dating school calendar ang pasukan, na nagsisimula sa sa buwan ng Hunyo, at magtatapos sa buwan ng Marso para sa mga basic education institutions.

Ang HR 1650 ay inihain nina House Committee on Basic Education and Culture chairperson at Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo, Cavite Reps. Lani Mercado-Revilla at Ramon Jolo Revilla III, Agimat party list Rep. Bryan Revilla, Ilocos Sur Rep. Ronald Singson, ACT Teachers party list Rep. France Castro, Gabriela party list Rep. Arlene Brosas, Kabataan party list Rep. Raoul Danniel Manuel, Bukidnon Rep. Laarni Roque, Zamboanga del Norte Rep. Adrian Michael Amatong, Bulacan Rep. Salvador Pleyto, Gato at Pusong Pinoy party list Rep. Jernie Jett Nisay.
