Pinagkalooban ng tanggapan ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ng financial support sa dalawang Filipino athletes na kakatawan sa bansa sa darating na 2024 Paris Olympics.
Iginawad ni Head Executive Assistant ng Office of the Speaker, Director V Atty. Lemuel “Muel” Romero, ang cash assistance bawat isa sa gymnasts na sina Levi Jung-Ruivivar at Carlos Edriel Yulo sa simpleng seremonya na ginanap sa Kamara.
“Every one of our athletes has shown remarkable dedication, resilience, and excellence, representing the Philippines on the world stage with immense pride and honor,” sa mensahe ni Romualdez sa nasabing mga atleta.
“We are here to support you in every way possible, ensuring you have the resources needed to succeed in Paris,” dagdag pa nito.
Ang pagkilos na ito ay sumusunod sa pulong ni Romualdez noong Mayo 22 na may isang delegasyon ng mga Paris-bound Filipino athletes na pinamumunuan ni Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas president Monico Puentevella.
Sa nasabing pagpupulong, nagbigay rin ng parehong halaga ng pinansiyal na tulong si Romualdez sa iba pang miyembro ng Olympic delegation, kabilang ang mga weightlifter na sina John Ceniza, Eireen Ando at Vanessa Sarno, gayundin ang rower na si Joanie Delgaco.
Ang iba pang mga atletang Pinoy na kakatawan sa Pilipinas sa Paris Olympics ay tatanggap ng tulong pinansyal mula sa Office of the Speaker.
Ipinahayag ni Romualdez ang kanyang matinding paghanga sa pagsusumikap ng mga atleta at sa kanilang mga inspirational journeys.
“Each one of you has faced numerous challenges and made countless sacrifices to reach this point. Your dedication and perseverance are commendable, and you carry our nation’s hopes and dreams with you,” saad ni Romualdez.
“This financial support is more than a reward; it is a symbol of our belief in your abilities and our commitment to your success. Your victories inspire hope and pride in every Filipino, and you exemplify the power of passion and perseverance,” pahayag pa nito.
Sinabi ni Romualdez na ang paglahok ng mga Pilipinong atleta sa Paris Olympics ay nangangahulugan ng isang milestone para sa bansa, na nagpapakita ng talento at competitive spirit ng bansa sa isang internasyonal platform.
