Speaker Romualdez tiwalang mapapabagal ang inflation; singil sa kuryente pababain

Kumpiyansa si Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez sa administrasyong Marcos, kasama ang Kongreso, lalung-lalo na ang Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso na mapapagaan ng inflation.

Ginawa ng pinuno ng Kamara ang pahayag bilang reaksyon sa ulat ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) na bumagal ang inflation noong Hunyo sa 3.7 porsiyento mula sa 3.9 porsiyento noong Mayo dahil sa mas mababang gastos sa enerhiya at transportasyon.

Pinuri ni Romualdez ang administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa namumukod-tanging pamamahala nito sa ekonomiya ng bansa.

“This means that inflation, which measures the rate of increase in the prices of goods and services, has been effectively controlled by the administration’s strategic economic policies,” sabi ni Romualdez.

Itinukoy nito ang tagumpay na ito sa gitna ng patuloy na pandaigdigang hamon, kabilang ang mga pagkagambala sa supply chain at kawalan ng katatagan sa pananalapi sa mga makabuluhang ekonomiya.

“We will work to further reduce electricity rates and rice prices. Accomplishing that will surely lead to a further moderation of inflation,” sabi nito.

“Titingnan natin ang posibleng amendments sa EPIRA para maibaba natin ‘yung presyo ng kuryente, para abot kaya ng lahat ‘yung sa tamang presyo,” dagdag pa ni Romualdez.

Sisikapin aniya ng Kamara na tapusin ang mga pag-amiyenda sa EPIRA bago mag-recess ang Kongreso sa panahon ng Kapaskuhan.

“So medyo kumplikado ‘yan kasi malaki itong batas at we will handle it by sections pero kayang-kaya natin tapusin ‘yan before siguro the Christmas break,” ayon dito.

“We want to know what is the problem with the law, why the law that was supposed to streamline the energy sector has unfortunately brought up electricity rates. We will call all stakeholders – power producers and distributors, the transmission company, and most importantly the consumers represented by consumer groups,” pahayag pa ni Romualdez.

Sinisikap aniya ng administrasyon na pababain ang presyo ng bigas sa pamamagitan ng direktang pagbebenta sa mga mamimili sa pamamagitan ng mga Kadiwa stores at subsidiya.

“P42 to 45 per kilo is achievable,” sabi nito.
