Patuloy na binabantayan ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) ang bulkang Kanlaon na patuloy na nakikita ang pamamaga ng bunganga ng bulkan.
Base sa pinakahuling monitoring ng Phivolcs, may ground deformation sa paligid ng bulkan na senyales ng pagiging aktibo nito ay posibleng biglaang pagputok ng steam o phreatic explosions.
Maliban dito, nakapagtala rin ng anim na volcanic earthquakes, at pagbuga ng sulfur dioxide flux na nasa 2556 tonelada.
“Considering that volcanic earthquake activity and elevated volcanic SO2 emission persists, the latest changes in ground deformation parameters could further indicate that magmatic intrusion beneath the edifice may be taking place, warning of increased chances of eruptive activity taking place,” ayon sa Phivolcs.
Samantala, dahil sa maulap na papawirin ay natatakpan ng ulap ang bunganga ng bulkan.
Nananatili pa rin sa alert level 2 sa bulkang Kanlaon at mahigpit na pinagbabawalan na pumasok sa 4 km radius permanent danger zone at pagbabawal sa paglipad ng anumang uri ng aircraft malapit sa tuktok ng bulkan.
“The public is reminded that Alert Level 2 (increasing unrest) prevails over Kanlaon. This means that there is current unrest driven by shallow magmatic processes that could eventually lead to explosive eruptions or even precede hazardous magmatic eruption at the summit crater,” abiso pa ng Phivolcs.
