PBBM pinuri ni Rep. Tiangco sa mababang presyo ng bigas

Pinuri ni Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco ang pagsisikap ng administrasyong Marcos na palawakin ang access sa abot-kayang bigas, kasunod ng pag-anunsyo ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. na dagdagan ang bilang ng mga Kadiwa outlets na nag-aalok ng P29 kada kilo ng bigas mula 13 hanggang 23 na tindahan.

“The sustained efforts of this administration to lower the price of basic commodities, including Filipino staples like rice, shows its steadfast commitment to fulfill its promises. With this program, Filipinos from vulnerable households and sectors are given some economic relief as they gain access to low-cost goods for their families,” ayon sa kongresista.

Kabilang sa mga benepisyaryo ng P29/kilo rice program ang mga miyembro ng Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), solo parents, senior citizens, at Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

Sa unang bahagi ng linggong ito, nasa 1,500 Navoteños ang nakabili ng hanggang limang kilo ng P29/kilo ng bigas.

“We are grateful to President Bongbong for his efforts to ensure Navoteños can have access to low-cost rice through the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program. The local government of Navotas hopes to continuously work with the national government in delivering basic services that are truly relevant to the needs of our constituents,” sabi ni Tiangco.

Nagpasalamat si Tiangco sa administrasyon sa mga pagsisikap na unahin ang pagpapaunlad ng agrikultura at kapakanan ng mga magsasaka.

Binigyan-diin ni Tiangco ang inaasahang paglulunsad ng contract-farming program ng Department of Agriculture (DA) kasama ang National Irrigation Administration (NIA) upang madagdagan ang murang presyo ng bigas sa mga Kadiwa stores.

Iginiit ng Navotas solon ang kanyang suporta sa layunin ni Speaker Martin Romualdez na makamit ang rice self-sufficiency sa 2028, na binibigyan-diin na ang panibagong pagtuon sa agrikultura ay magtitiyak ng malakas na pambansang suporta para sa mga magsasaka at mangingisda.

“I am one with the House leadership in pushing for efforts that will modernize and develop the country’s agricultural sector. Not only will it improve the lives of farmers and fisherfolks, it will also significantly contribute to food security of Filipinos,” sabi ng mambabatas.
