Pinagpapaliwanag ni Senador JV Ejercito ang Philippine Health Corporation (PhiHealth) kung bakit hindi nagamit nang maayos ang P89.9 bilyong pondo nito sa kabila ng maraming ospital ang hindi pa rin nababayaran.
“PhilHealth needs to explain why their funds have not been properly utilized, especially since they still have excess funds amounting to P89.9 billion. This is a significant oversight on the part of PhilHealth as many hospitals remain unpaid,” ayon sa senador.
Giit ni Ejercito, dapat na siguruhin ng pamahalaan na ang mga hindi nagagamit na pondo ng PhiHealth ay kailangang magamit sa mga programa at proyekto ng health sector.
“The national government must ensure that a portion of unused funds from PhilHealth should be used to prioritize health sector programs and projects,” aniya pa.
Umaasa si Ejercito kay Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Ralph Recto, ang principal author ng Universal Health Care Law, na titiyakin na ang hindi nagamit na pondo ay maayos na mailalaan sa health sector.
“Ang pondong pangkalusugan ay nararapat lamang gamitin para sa mga programang pangkalusugan. Bilang may-akda at sponsor ng UHC Act, naniniwala po tayo na dapat nating mas palawakin pa ang mga health benefit packages ng programa at pababain ang mga premium rate ng PhilHealth,” sabi pa ni Ejercito.
“The UHC Act remains our best hope to bring quality health care to every Filipino, which is why we are advocating for the swift passage of its amendments in the Senate,” dagdag nito.
