Iginiit ni Senador Chiz Escudero sa Department of Energy (DOE) at sa Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) na dapat magpatupad ng mas mahigpit na pagbabantay sa mga power generation companies (gencos) upang matiyak ang pagsunod sa kanilang scheduled outages.
Bukod pa rito, sinabi ni Escudero na dapat obligahin ang mga gencos na magbigay ng malinaw na mga paliwanag at katwiran para sa anumang hindi planadong outages.
“The DOE and ERC should rein in the gencos to stay true to their scheduled outages and should be required to explain and justify the reasons behind these forced outages,” sabi ni Escudero.
Ayon pa kay Escudero, ang mga hakbang sa pananagutan ay dapat gawin upang matugunan ang anumang hindi makatwirang downtime na nagreresulta mula sa kapabayaan, kawalan ng kakayahan o panloob na mga pagkakamali sa loob ng mga kumpanyang ito.
“They should be held accountable for any unreasonable or unjustified outage brought about by their negligence, incompetence or their own fault,” aniya.
“No amount of ancillary or stand-by power can guarantee sufficient supply nor be able to stabilize the grid if this forced outages continues to persist unchecked,” dagdag pa nito.
Una nang sinabi ng National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) na isinailalim ang Luzon grid sa red at yellow alerts habang ang Visayas grid ay yellow alert matapos ang 42 power plants ay tumigil sa pag-supply ng kuryente o nabawasan ang kanilang output.
