Pabahay sa mga OFWs dapat lang — Rep. Magsino

Nanindigan ang isang mambabatas na dapat na tulungan sa pangangailangan para sa abot-kaya at disenteng pabahay ang mga overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) dahil sa sakripisyo para sa ekonomiya ng bansa. 

Apela ni OFW party list Rep.Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino sa mga pinuno ng industriya ng pabahay na magbigay ng mga programa at mekanismo para payagan ang mga OFWs na magkaroon ng sariling tahanan.

“From the personal accounts during my meetings with our OFWs, one of their primary goals is to have their own family home. They have experienced being evicted out of their rental home, squeezing in their families in the houses of relatives, or living as informal settlers. And so they endure years of toiling abroad amidst risks to their welfare and safety and despite the pain of being separated from their loved ones, just to be able to save up for a house and lot they can call their own — a proud legacy borne out of their blood, sweat, and tears,” pahayag ni Magsino.

Nakipagpulong si Magsino kina Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez, chairman ng Housing and Urban Development Committee at kay Atty. Angelito Aguila ng Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) para sa isang dayalogo.

Kasama rin sa pagpupulong ang housing industry officials ng apat na malalaking housing organizations na National Real Estate Association (NREA), Subdivision and Housing Development Association (SHDA), Chamber of Real Estate & Builders Association, Inc. (CREBA), at Organization of Socialized and Economic Housing Developers of the Philippines (OSHDP).

“At the start of the 19th Congress, foremost in my to-do-list is a policy dialogue with my friends in the housing industry. I very well know we have a lot of suggestions, issues, and concerns on the policy scaffolding of the industry. These have been persisting for years and years. At times, we have incremental developments, but the policy headways we envision have yet to be realized,” paliwanag pa ng kongresista.

Nagbigay ng komento ang mga pinuno ng industriya ng pabahay at nagmungkahi sa kung ano talaga ang kailangan ng sektor ng pabahay sa mga tuntunin ng direksyon ng patakaran at suporta.  

Kabilang dito ang pagsasama-sama ng mga batas, pagsasaayos ng mga regulasyon sa pagpapahalaga ng real property, mga isyu sa pag-access sa lupa, pag-unlad na nakatuon sa transportasyon, pagsasaayos ng kisame ng presyo para sa socialized na pabahay, accessible na financing, at rental housing.

Hinikayat nina Magsino at Rep. Kiko Benitez ang mga pinuno ng sektor ng pabahay na makipagtulungan sa lehislatura sa paggawa ng mga batas dahil ang kanilang kadalubhasaan sa usapin ay makatutulong nang malaki sa pagbuo ng mahahalaga, pantay, at  tumutugon sa mga patakaran.
