Pinuri ni House Speaker Martin G. Romualdez si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa matagumpay at napakaproduktibong pagbisita sa Estados Unidos (US), at kanyang paglahok sa 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at pakikipagpulong kay US President Joe Biden.
“The President wasted no time in his efforts to put the Philippines again in the investments map of the world. At a time when nations struggle to bounce back from the ill effects of the pandemic on economies, our President hit the ground running and worked almost round the clock to bring home much-needed investments,” paliwanag ni Romualdez.
Nagsagawa ng pormal at impormal na bilateral na pagpupulong si Pangulong Marcos sa mga pinuno ng mga pangunahing kaalyado ng Pilipinas, tulad ng US at Japan.
Umalis si Pangulong Marcos patungong New York City noong Setyembre 18 at dumalo sa UNGA kung saan nakipagpulong ito kay UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres upang muling pagtibayin ang kinakailangang ugnayan sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at ng UN.
Kasama ni Romualdez, sina Finance Sec. Benjamin Diokno, Budget Sec. Amenah Pangandaman, Trade and Industry Sec. Alfredo Pascual, National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Presidential Management Staff Sec. Ma. Zenaida B. Angping, Tourism Sec. Christina Frasco, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Felipe M. Medalla, Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel G. Romualdez, Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo, Migrant Workers Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople, Press Sec. Trixie Cruz-Angeles, at iba pang miyembro ng delegasyon, kung saan nakilala rin ni Pangulong Marcos ang ilang negosyante mula sa iba’t ibang kumpanya na nangakong maging bahagi ng pag-unlad ng Pilipinas at paglago ng ekonomiya.
Nakipag-usap din ang Punong Ehekutibo sa mga pandaigdigang mamumuhunan, mangangalakal, at iba pang panauhin sa New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) kung saan hiniling sa kanya na i-ring ang closing bell sa trading floor.
Hinimok sila ni Pangulong Marcos na pumunta sa Pilipinas at gamitin ang potensyal nito bilang isa sa pinakamabilis na lumalagong ekonomiya sa Asya.
Si Pangulong Marco ay nagmula sa napakatagumpay na mga pagbisita sa estado sa Indonesia at Singapore kung saan ang Punong Ehekutibo ay nakapagdala ng mahigit $14 bilyon sa mga pangako sa pamumuhunan.
“We at the House of Representatives will help in making these investment pledges come to fruition. If the President needs any piece of legislation to materialize the objectives of these bilateral trade and investment agreements, we will answer the call,” ayon pa kay Romualdez.
Sinabi rin nito na may nakabinbing batas na naglalayong mas mapadali ang pagdagsa ng mga dayuhang mamumuhunan sa bansa na naaayon din sa legislative agenda ng administrasyong Marcos.
“These include the eCommerce Bill, the National Government Rightsizing Program, the eGovernance Act, amendments to the Electric Power Industry Reform Act, and amendments to the Build-Operate-Transfer Law, among others,” aniya.
“What is important is we all do our share in nation-building. We all hope to capitalize on the early gains of the Marcos administration in order to steer our economy back to its pre-pandemic growth,” dagdag pa nito.
